Origin is a technical term to define a registered (top-level) domain (e.g., google.com) in combination with three other components:
- network access protocol (e.g., http or https which are often called a “scheme”),
- the port associated with network access protocol (e.g., “80” for http and “443” for https), and
- the host network address(es) registered to this domain (e.g., the domain name registry links registered site domains to network addresses).[1]
